The opening sequence is a way to help start off a game. It goes through how teams line up and then what happens after the whistle blows.

The opening sequence begins with both teams lining up in front of their own goal. There are seven players per team. The thrower, or receiver plus three fellow players on one side and three on the other. When the game begins, there is one player from each team at either end of the field who starts off as “the thrower” and “the receiver”. The thrower holds a disc in both hands while standing behind his or her own goal line, while the receiver stands behind the other team's goal line with his or her back to that goal post.

The first part of this opening sequence ends when the defensive player "the thrower" from one team throws a pass to the offensive player "the receiver" on the other team.

Rules and Regulations

Ultimate Frisbee is a team sport played with an official disc on a playing field. It can be played either indoors or outdoors and was designed to be less complicated than other sports. With the intention that more people could play.

Ultimate Frisbee is a contact sport. However the rules are much simpler than in traditional contact sports like rugby and football. There are no referees so players call their own fouls. Which makes it faster paced and less stressful for players to play the game. There is an underlying respect between players. Which allows the game to be self managed. Only one person from each team is allowed to hold the disc at any given time, and the end zone can be reached by passing the disc around defenders - like in a game of air hockey.
